The project is looking at the impact that the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) standard will have when finalised, and developing some of the tools needed to enable this standard to be readily adopted. A press release outlined the goals of the project, and an article about it appeared in The Times Higher in July 1999.
There are two major strands of work currently being developed, which are tracking the current state of the SVG specification:
We are also doing work on generating SVG from FlowMap (a flow charting package).
In the near future we hope to be carrying out further work on metadata, digital identifiers, resource location, and structured PDF.

After many years of working with Adobe’s PostScript and PDF technologies, the Electronic Publishing Group at The University of Nottingham are now working closely with Adobe Systems Inc., researching areas of mutual interest to both parties.
