Rowing (including sculling) is a sport which is enjoying increased popularity at present, particularly amongst women, in the UK at least. Success of UK oarsmen and oarswomen, as well as our lightweight squads and scullers has raised rowing's profile in the media--including coverage of head races and regattas by TV, press and radio.
Those interested in rowing can find out more information by joining the Internet newsgroup rec.sport.rowing, and read its FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). Other information can be obtained through the sport's national body to locate a local club where you can try it out (see the FAQ above). For example, those in the Nottingham area can start off by going to the Nottingham Sculling School at Holme Pierrepont, or joining a club such as Nottingham Boat Club.
More information on rowing is available on the World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Rowing page maintained by Jonathan Bowen of the Oxford University Computing Laboratory. This includes information on the River and Rowing Museum at Henley.
Rachell Quarrell's Rowing Page is a source of much information about rowing, results, contact information, advice, for sale notices etc.
