Nottingham Boat Club, or The Boat Club as it is known to most people, was founded in 1894. We celebrated our centenary in 1994 with many special events, and a lot of regatta wins.
Nottingham is a major centre for rowing in the UK with several clubs on Trentside in Nottingham, a very good stretch of water (12 miles) on the River Trent, and the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont.
The Boat Club has a large active membership of men and women of all statuses from novice to elite, and youngsters to veterans. The successes can be seen on the results page.
New members, whether experienced or novice, are always welcome. If you are interested please turn up at the club in the morning (10am) at weekends, or at about 6.30pm Monday to Thursday, and ask for David Sharp or the Captain. Beginners coaching sessions are run on a regular basis, usually on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm and weekend mornings at 10am. See the members' pages for information on facilities and fees, and the contact page for information on how to contact us (including travel directions).
Junior members are particularly welcome. Jim Waller (our Captain) should be contacted about our junior rowing programme. Please see the Junior Rowing section on the members' pages for full details.
Wednesday night is our club night. The bar is open from about 8pm and everyone is welcome. What better way to spend a summer evening than gazing over the river from the Boat Club balcony drinking with friends? Come down and try it out!
Come down and join us or visit us for one of our events and experience it for yourself.
